Dr. Dara D. Mendez

Dr. Dara D. Mendez, Ph.D., MPH is faculty in the Department of Epidemiology and Interim Director of the Center for Health Equity at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. Mendez is a national expert who applies a variety of methods and approaches in her work related to the complex intersections between racism, multiple forms of oppression, stress, and place in understanding Black maternal and infant health as well as racial/ethnic inequities in pregnancy, birth and women’s health. She is a founding member of the PA Maternal Mortality Review Committee, former Board Chair of the National Women's Health Network, and executive member of the Black Equity Coalition in Pittsburgh, PA.
